Description/Job Summary

This is an exciting greenfield opportunity to develop a knowledge function within the team, supporting our lawyers to maintain and grow their technical knowledge and horizon-scanning for our clients.

Responsibilities/Duties

The role includes:

  • creating, improving and managing precedent documents and template advice;
  • maintaining the firm’s world sky advice for EMEA with assistance from local counsel;
  • tracking EU and UK legislative change/regulatory pipeline and assisting with horizon-scanning presentations for clients;
  • keeping the team up to speed on legal, regulatory and market developments and sector hot topics;
  • developing a training programme for the team, including preparation of materials and delivery of core sessions for junior associates;
  • managing our knowledge bank;
  • supporting key clients with training and knowledge services;
  • liaising with industry bodies and London PSL Network groups, building the Simpson Thacher brand in this space;
  • supporting the partners on work process improvement initiatives; and
  • supporting the team on ad hoc queries (firm wide and team wide).
Required Skills
  • Experience as a knowledge lawyer is not essential.
  • We anticipate this role would best suit a lawyer with 7+ years relevant PQE, but will consider less experienced candidates with a strong interest in the role.

  • strong commercial awareness;
  • strong desire to offer first class advice and service to the team; and
  • strong interest in the black letter law, excellent technical skills and an eye for detail.

  • Financial services M&A
  • Distribution models and placement agent arrangements
  • Investment management and investment advisory agreements
  • Regulatory aspects of fund structuring
  • World sky/securities laws
  • Financial promotion regime
  • AML
  • Market abuse
  • ESG regulation
